Privacy Policy
ScoreReel helps sports parents track their children's matches and training sessions. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and who we share it with.
Who we are
ScoreReel is operated from Switzerland. For any question about your data, email hello@scorereel.app. The contact point for data protection is the same address.
What we collect
Account data — your email address, name, country, and preferred language when you sign up (via email one-time code, Apple or Google).
Content you create in the app — games, goals, penalties, events, players, teams, tournaments, training sessions, venues, and any notes you add.
Photos and videos — recordings and photos you take in the app stay on your device. On iOS you can additionally back them up to your own iCloud account (see below); we never receive them. Only small derived files reach our servers: team logos, player photos, and the short goal reels you choose to publish to a live ticker. Clips published to a live ticker are uploaded without their sound, for privacy: whatever is said near the phone while recording never reaches the public page.
Live ticker metadata — when you enable Live Ticker for a game or tournament, the broadcaster name you set and the resulting shareable token are stored with that game.
Automatic publishing (a Season Pass setting, per game or per tournament, off by default) turns the goals you log while recording that game into short clips and uploads them to its live ticker as soon as the recording is saved, exactly as when you publish a clip yourself. Only those clips leave your phone; the full recording never does. Your choice for a game or tournament is stored with it, and you can switch it off at any time.
Time zone — each game stores the time zone its start time belongs to, taken from the venue's country when the venue has one and otherwise from your phone's time zone at the time you saved the game. It is used only so that live ticker viewers in another zone see the right time; it is not a location record and does not update as you move.
Diagnostic data — crash reports, performance traces, and a masked session replay of the app when something goes wrong. This helps us find and fix bugs.
Device data — operating system version and device model, included with diagnostic reports for context.
Purchase data — if you buy a Season Pass or a monthly plan, Apple or Google processes the payment. We receive a purchase receipt and store your entitlement (plan and expiry date) with your account. We never see your card details.
Backups — on iOS, recordings can also be backed up to your own iCloud account. That copy lives in your private iCloud container and is never visible to us.
Calendar imports — if you import tournaments from a calendar file or link, the file is read on your device and a link is fetched by the app on your device, not through our servers. The tournaments it creates (names, dates, venues, descriptions) and the link itself are stored with your account like anything else you enter, and the link is fetched again only when you tap refresh. Treat a private calendar link as a password: anyone who has it can read that calendar.
Training documents — PDFs and images you attach to a training (drill sheets, instructions) stay on your device, and on iOS in your own iCloud backup where you have turned it on. We never receive the files; only their name, type and size are stored with the training so your other devices can list them. They are removed when you delete the document, the training or your account.
Diagnostic reports also include your IP address.
Why we use it
To provide the core features of the app — tracking games, syncing across your devices, and broadcasting live tickers when you choose to.
To keep your account secure — sending one-time codes and verifying social sign-ins.
To fix bugs and improve the app — diagnostic data is only used for engineering, never sold or used for advertising.
We do not sell your data and we do not profile you for marketing. The free version shows one small banner on the dashboard, served by Google AdMob (see below); the Season Pass removes advertising entirely.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers (data processors) to run the app. Your data is processed by them on our behalf under contractual safeguards.
Supabase — database, authentication, and storage for team logos, player photos and goal reels published to a live ticker.
PowerSync — offline-first sync between your device and our database.
Sentry — crash reporting and session replay.
Apple or Google — only if you choose to sign in with one of those providers. They share a minimal profile with us (typically name and email) under their own terms.
Some of these providers may process data in the United States. Where that happens, we rely on standard contractual clauses and equivalent safeguards.
When you enable Live Ticker on a game or tournament, the match's scores, goals, events, and any video clips you share to that ticker become publicly readable by anyone who holds the share link (or, if you marked the ticker Public, by anyone browsing our Live page). You can disable or delete a broadcast at any time from the app. Clips published to a ticker are deleted when you disable the ticker, and in any case seven days after the ticker expires.
Apple App Store and Google Play — payment processing for subscriptions, under their own terms.
A Live Ticker also shows the names or jersey numbers of the players you credit with goals and assists. Goal Reels and result images you share leave the app through your device's share sheet; what happens to them next is governed by the app you share them to.
Google AdMob — serves the single dashboard banner in the free version. To show and measure ads it receives your device's advertising identifier (where you allow it), IP address and coarse device data; it never receives your games, players or media. On iOS ads are non-personalised unless you opt in to tracking. Season Pass holders see no ads. You can limit ad personalisation in your device settings.
Children's data
ScoreReel is designed for parents to record their children's sports activity. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data directly from a child.
If you record data about a minor (for example, your child as a player), you — the parent or guardian — are responsible for deciding what you share and for obtaining any consent required under your local law. Before enabling a public Live Ticker that could identify a child, please think carefully about whether that's appropriate for the people involved.
Your rights
You can access, correct, export, or delete your data at any time from Settings → Account.
Deleting your account takes effect immediately and cannot be undone: your games, media and profile data are removed from our live systems the moment you confirm, and neither you nor we can restore them afterwards. Residual copies in encrypted backups are overwritten as those backups age out, within 30 days. Diagnostic reports are retained for up to 90 days.
Deleting a single profile works differently: it is reversible for 30 days, during which the profile's games, players and teams are kept so you can restore it. After that they are deleted permanently.
If you are in Switzerland, the EEA, or the UK, you also have the right to object to processing and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority — the Swiss FDPIC (https://www.edoeb.admin.ch) or the relevant authority in your country.
Security
All traffic to and from the app uses HTTPS. Data at rest is encrypted by our processors. Access to rows in our database is restricted by row-level security tied to your user account. Live ticker PINs are hashed before storage — we don't know your PIN.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top and notify you in the app or by email. Please check back periodically.
